SSI farewells long-time friend and supporter Gervase Pearce
8 Jan 2014
It is with much sadness that we report the passing of long-time supporter of Save Sight Institute, Mr Gervase Pearce.
Gervase was Chair and longstanding Board member of the Save Sight Institute. He played an integral part in helping the institute overcome complex challenges, grow and achieve research and community health goals. His professionalism, dedication, energy and vision shone through in everything he did. Gervase’s contribution to the lives of ordinary people living with eye disease will continue in the future as we carry on implementing the strategies and moving forward in the direction he worked so closely with us to map out.
A fine sailor, Gervase was a senior Naval Officer for many years, instrumental in major developments including expanding the role of women at sea and was heavily involved in the Navy’s welcoming of the Royal family to Australia.
Gervase was also Executive Director of the Australian Graduate School of Leadership, helping to inspire and develop emerging Australian leaders.
Gervase passed away after a long battle with illness, and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
A guestbook has been established for those who knew Gervase to share their thoughts and remember him.
